Bradield Parish Council have hit the headlines today following a project that has seen TownsWeb Archiving Ltd digitise almost 40,000 items for them and prepare the records to be placed online for the public to view.
Staff from TownsWeb Archiving spent 2 weeks on site at the premises of Bradfield Council digitising all manor of records from old bound ledgers and registers to manuscripts, minutes, indentures and bastardy bonds.
The scanning was performed using non-contact, flatbed equipment and auto-levelling book rests – meaning there was no risk of damage to the spines of the books.
Back at our studios in Kettering the digitisation team then processed the images to various file formats (master tiff, surrogate jpegs etc.) before handing them over to our web development team to design and create a website in order for members of the public to view the archive.

Update: You can now see the completed project at the Bradfield Archives website.
