Your photographic archive is often the most ‘visual’ and sometimes the most ‘sought after’ part of your collection. At TownsWeb Archiving Ltd we have undertaken many photographic digitisation projects dealing with old, fragile, faded and framed photographs of unusual sizes and materials. We take special care to digitise and then produce the very best possible image from your photographic print or film negative. We will check for rips, dirt and dust and can provide restoration services.

At TownsWeb Archiving Ltd we do not use any rollfeed equipment to scan your photographs or film negatives. We have a variety of flat bed scanners which mitigate any chance of damaging your valuable collection. We can scan any size photograph and film negative in a variety of DPI and output types.

Concerned About Transporting Your Items?

No problem. We are happy to come to your premises with our staff and equipment to perform the digitisation on site. Find out more about on site and off site digitisation.

We are also happy to come to your premises with our own staff and GPS tracked vehicles to personally collect and return your items.

File Formats & Accessing The Images

We will generally produce image files in TIFF and JPEG formats, although we can produce other file formats such as PDF, PDF/A, JPEG 2000, BMP etc. Images can be produced in full colour or greyscale and we can enhance or graphically restore them too.

Once you have a digital library of photographic images we can help you index, transcribe and add appropriate meta-data. We can help you maintain your image collection by importing the files and meta-data in to our content management system TWA ArcView (or in to your own system). If you would like to provide innovative access to photographic collection then we have our own specialist ‘virtual book turning’ and ‘library’ software.

If you are interested in displaying your images online for the public to view then we can build websites or web pages (that sit within your existing website) that incorporate search engines and payment gateways so that the public can find and then pay for your images to be downloaded.
